The VAC 21.1/10km race on Saturday, 27 February, was a huge success! Approximately 170 athletes started off at 6am in pleasant, cool running/walking conditions. The finishing times showed this, as the first male, Maseko Ntuthuko from Nedbank, finished in a time of 1:11:32. The first lady, Winnie Mnisi (Temporary) finished in a time of 1:35:24. Our VAC ladies, Loumey Swanepoel, Amanda Bothma, Ronel Delport and Georgie Tasseron, did very well by winning the 21km team prize. Also in the 21km run Georgie Tasseron also won the first lady in the 60+ category and Wessel Potgieter won the men’s 50+ category. Paula Small was the 3rd lady and won the 40+ category in the ladies’ 10km run. Sabelo Ndlovu was the 1st male 40+ runner in the 10km. In the 10km Walk, Jan Harboth was the 3rd lady. Well done to all the VAC runners and walkers who participated. Results are to be found elsewhere. A lot of support is needed before and on race day. Thank you to those VAC members who helped on the day of the race. Without your help, we would have never been able to successfully host this race. A big thank you goes to MDV Developments for sponsoring the medals. Roses Handmade Confectionary, Van der Nest Pharmacy, Wessel Potgieter and MTN were kind enough to sponsor lucky dip prizes. Thank you to Empire Dairy for supplying the water to refresh the runners. For the runners, the water points are the most important part of the race and for manning those we thank the NG Moedergemeente Vryheid, PG Glass, Afrimat and Anton & friends. PG Glass was named the best water point! Well done! The Loskop Marathon on 17 April 2010 is one of our club runs. The camping sites have been booked and paid in full. Could all members interested please contact Elzabe and pay your booking in full. |

Congratulations to Michaelis Schule for winning the Dee’s Valentine’s Fun Run School Competition. Although Lucas Meyer School had the most participants (well done and thank you!), Michaelis School won by more than double percentage wise. Once again thank you to all the schools for their support and participation! This weekend is our first big race of the year, the VAC 21/10km Run/Walk! We invite all to come and join in the race. For the fitter athlete there is the challenging 21.1km route and for the not so fit, a nice 10km run/walk. All finishers receive a medal and the prize money is very good. There will be lots of lucky dip prizes, which can be won by any lucky participant. Entry fee for the 21.1km run/walk is R50 and R30 for the 10km run/walk. Baie geluk aan die VAC lede wat Saterdag die Werkers wedloop gehardloop het! Ons waardeer dit baie dat julle bereid is om die dag van die wedloop vir die klub te werk!
